As promised, this month's issue of party possibilities is about Summer Soirees - or rather, drink recipes for your next summer party.  I'm a huge advocate of serving a 'house' drink, like the beverages suggested below, along with beer and wine, in lieu of a full bar when entertaining at home, and I love it when little details - like drinks - support the party theme to create a great experience!  Cheers!

Refreshing Summer Party Drinks

To help you beat the heat while entertaining this month, I've compiled a few drink recipes to complement a variety of summer party themes.  Click on the drink name to go to the recipe.  For simplicity, I've selected recipes that yield many servings, which is best for preparing ahead and offering on a self-serve bar.

08.08.08 I Summer Olympics

Cheer on "Team USA" with a pitcher of American Punch, made with bourbon, America's 'distinctive liquor' as passed by Congress in 1964.

New England Clambake

Host a luxurious beach party (sans sand) and enjoy a refreshing glass of Watermelonade with your favorite coastal entree.

Tex-Mex BBQ

They do everything BIG in Texas so for your next BBQ, serve Lime Beer Cocktails in a 16 oz. Mason Drinking Jar with handle and lots of ice!

South Beach  Cocktails

For this sophisticated soiree, I envision transforming your pool deck into an ultra-sleek night club with all-white furniture (locally available for rental).  A mojito is the only refreshing beverage option!

Hawaiian Luau

Create a tropical oasis by serving fruit smoothies in a coconut cup from a tiki bar.  Smoothies are easy to make but I recommend hiring a local company to blend tasty Pina Coladas for your next party.

More Beverage Ideas

Impromptu gatherings happen a lot in the summer.  Two additional ideas are:

Keep a ziplock bag of seasonal fruit in the freezer; serve in pitchers of ice tea or lemonade.  My favorite is a medley of frozen berries with Crystal Light Raspberry Ice Tea.  It's so refreshing!

Another trick is to freeze pureed fruit in ice cube trays.  When company arrives, pour a chilled, dry wine over a few cubes.  It's like instant sangria!
